About Andrea

Andrea Mut

Andrea comes from a long line of talented bakers and cooks. Both grandmothers made careers in baking and cooking becoming famous for their pies, butter tarts and brownies. Andrea’s mother is also a talented cook and baker and had her own gourmet take out food and catering business in the 80’s where Andrea first made the decision to start a career in the food industry.

Starting at George Brown College in the Chef’s training program it didn’t take Andrea long to figure out that the Pastry Department was where she wanted to be. In her second year she enrolled in the full time pastry/baking program and then went on to be an honours graduate and Dean’s award winner.

From there Andrea started her career in baking. Perfecting her skills in locations such as Dufflet, Leah’s Bakery, Edward Levesque’s, and most recently Café Belong, she has worked in all aspects of the industry over the last 20 years..

She has a wonderful husband and two boys. They live to travel and have spent many happy months living abroad, in Madrid, Bangkok and most recently 6 months travelling in South America.

Andrea’s Gerrard Street Bakery opened in the summer of 2012.
